Useful Tools for the Students to Use
Classroom Technology
In order to prepare students for the appropriate use of the tools, the instructor should have examples of each tool for students to observe and make a better decision on their choice of final presentation. This will mean the instructor only needs to find available pre-made websites from these sources for the students to explore. In order to address appropriate resources for use, there is a class discussion on WEEK 2, Monday that helps students determine quality resources, particularly internet sources. Additionally, students will be able to contribute and critique the resources and tools discovered throughout the unit as they are shared in group discussions.

Finding Resources in Activities
- Students will need to use resources such as Google maps to find distances in the entry event as well as calculators to compute cost
- There is an opportunity for differentiated instruction for exceptionally motivated students who could do some research for the deeper questions addressed in each activity which should help facilitate their research skills in the main project and encourage other students to investigate their questions through research.
Finding Resources for the Main Project
- On WEEK 2, Monday, there is a class discussion on gathering resources. Students will be led to address what makes a useful and quality resource as well as how to find these resources.
- To address student access of new and useful resources, they will be given a homework assignment on WEEK 2, Monday of finding an effective resource for the project that will be shared with the class on the following day.
- We have also created a page for student resources that are a part of the scaffolding but will be available for students to access throughout the project that contain information on several preliminary biofuel resources, how-to make citations, and potential presentation platforms.
- In order to help students with the use of technology within their projects, we would assign one student each group the role of lead techie, where it would be their responsibility to help design the presentation. If it is needed, a breakaway session during a group work time will be conducted with the group techies to discuss platforms for their presentations. The instructor can mention potential presentation sources (such as PowerPoint, Weebly, and GoogleSites) that students could use, as well as a brief walk through on how to set up a site on Weebly or GoogleSites.
- Any training that would be needed is based on what the students request (which there are opportunities to do so in the Exit Tickets). This means that direct materials for such training would best be developed in the process of the teaching of the course. Some training advice is listed in the bullet above, as needed.
